EMILY CROOKS

Emily graduated from Royal Bay Secondary School in June of 2016. She is furthering her education with the aspiration of becoming a teacher. After recently completing two years of study at Camosun College she is continuing her studies at the University of Victoria. Emily enjoys dance, and she was a member of the Dance Academy throughout her high school career. Being trained in a variety of genres, she continues to take dance lessons in the Westshore. Emily enjoyed volunteering with CanWES for several years before coming on as a full-time board member. She is extremely passionate about the CanWES vision and looks forward to her future with the organization.
KEVIN HARRINGTON

Kevin is a graduate from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Education. He has since earned his Masters degree in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University. Kevin has spent much of his teaching career involving himself in extracurricular sports, coaching both Basketball and Football. He is married and has two boys. Kevin is pleased to have been a part of CanWES since it was established in 2007.
TROY HARRIS

Troy was born and raised in Victoria, and graduated from UVic in 1996 with a Bachelor of Education. After teaching in Victoria for ten years, Troy decided he wanted to have an impact globally as well as locally. In August of 2007, Troy founded the Canadian World Education Society (CanWES) in an attempt to provide educational opportunities for youth in impoverished nations. Troy is currently teaching at Royal Bay Secondary School in the Sooke School district. Troy cherishes his time with his wife and two children, and also enjoys hiking, filmmaking, and photography.

HOLLY QUISSY

Holly was born and raised on the mainland in Port Coquitlam. After graduating from Terry Fox Secondary in 1999 she moved over to Victoria with her parents and sisters. She entered the financial world at Toronto Dominion Bank in January 2000, she enjoyed her experience with TD for her 7 1/2 years before transferring her career to Royal Bank in May 2007. Since then she has continued her journey in the financial industry with many different positions that involved balancing and managing all cash in the branch on a daily based, to supervising the service team, to now assisting two Investment Retirement Planners. Outside of working Holly enjoys hiking with her husband Brad and their dog and herbalism. Her two children attend Royal Bay Secondary and are active with sports in the community. Holly is excited to share her abilities and knowledge as one of the newest members of this amazing organization.
JACQUI TEN HOVE

Jacqui graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria in 1996, and she has been teaching for the past twenty-seven years. She began her career in Fort St. James, British Columbia before returning to Victoria in 2001. She takes advantage of the beautiful west coast climate – running, hiking and spending outdoor time with her husband and two children. Jacqui has been involved with CanWES since its inception, and as a dedicated teacher, she is extremely proud to be helping CanWES in providing quality education to the students at the Everest English School in Sanitar, Nepal.
KELLY WHITNEY

Kelly’s passion is for organizing things, people and having fun. She has over 20 years of experience in office management. She began her career as an administrative assistant and quickly moved up the ranks to become an owner in a property management firm. She brings expertise in people management, coupled with a strong understanding of business strategy to our CanWES board. She is married with three children and a neighbour to Troy. She has shared ideas with Troy by the fire for years and is now excited to be a part of the board.

The teachers of Everest English School. The school sits in the Okhaldhunga region of Nepal and is home to over 225 students. The school is located due south of Mount Everest (Sagarmatha), in the heart of a tiny village known as Sanitar.
